Hawkins appointed Physiotherapy Lead

We are super excited to announce that Steve Hawkins will spearhead the Physiotherapy and Soft Tissue Therapy team at the VIS in a full time capacity.

Steve comes with a wealth of experience with over twenty years’ experience in the field.

Most recently, Steve has been the Head of Sports Medicine at the Melbourne Vixens, of which he will still maintain a presence.

Further, Steve has occupied Head Physiotherapy positions at the Commonwealth Games up on the Gold Coast last April, the Australian Youth Olympic Games Team held in Singapore and the Australian Diamonds Netball Team.

Steve has had further multi-sport event experience as a Physiotherapist at the Sydney Olympics and also the Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne.

Steve is no stranger at all to the VIS as he has worked across the Netball and Baseball programs over the years as well as being an in-house sessional Physio at certain times.

Steve played an integral role in the development of Netball Australia’s KNEE program, which has essentially seen a decline in the prevalence of knee injuries.

Further to this, Steve has been involved in a number of research projects aimed at reducing the prevalence of injuries.

Last but not least, Steve has had extensive experience delivering professional development at courses and conferences.

Congratulations and welcome Steve!
