VIS Open Day

The VIS Open Day provides the Victorian public the opportunity to meet our Olympians, Paralympians and World Champion athletes, learn from high performance sport experts and experience the inner workings of our world class facility.

The VIS Open Day offers a unique taste of what it takes to be an elite athlete and to work in the high performance environment. Everyone is welcome, from children and families to university students and sports fans.

2024 Open Day

The 2024 Open Day was our biggest one yet with over 1500 eager attendees through the doors.

In brilliant sunshine, a large crowd of young and old sports lovers witnessed a parade of athletes and VIS high-performance staff who wore green and gold in the Paris 2024 Games.

Throughout the day dozens of Olympians and Paralympians, including race walking medallists Jemima Montag and Rhydian Cowley, swimming world champion Sam Williamson, Para-cycling gold medallist Emily Petricola, Paralympic 1500m medallist Reece Langdon and Olympic and Paralympic table tennis player Melissa Tapper, mingled with fans who got the opportunity to explore and experience the inner workings of the state’s peak high-performance sporting facility.

Activities included interactive sports skills and drill demonstrations with athletes, a cooking demonstration with VIS dieticians, recovery classes with VIS strength and conditioning coaches, as well as mental testing activities with VIS sports psychologists.
