PROGRAMS


VIS Advancement Series 

Secondary  

 

Sport Science

  • Sport science education sessions will teach students about each of the different areas of sport science and how they relate to elite athlete performance.
  • VIS Sport Scientists will take the students through real-life athlete examples and give them exclusive insights into how athletes train, and how their performance in training and competition is closely monitored to ensure they reach their full potential. 
  • Sessions run for 90 minutes, and include a VIS Tour.
  • Maximum 40 students per session.

Nutrition 

  • There are two types of Nutrition sessions for schools to choose from: Performance Nutrition ( for years 7-10) or Sports Nutrition & Sports Medicine (for VCE, Units 1-4). 
  • VIS Sports Dietitians and Sports Medicine experts draw on their extensive experience using real athlete stories as examples, combined with a variety of practical activities to engage the students.
  • Sessions run for 4 hours and include a VIS Tour, conducted by a VIS athlete and followed by an athlete presentation.
  • Maximum 100 students per session, which can include classes from other schools.

Be Fit. Be Well

Primary & Secondary

  • Experience an athlete speaker at your school! 
  • Athletes messaging to the students emphasise the link between physical activity and wellbeing, and can be tailored to the schools needs.
  • Sessions run for up to 1 hour and audience size is determined by school.
  • Free for Government schoolsthanks to School Sport Victoria.




Be Fit. Be Well - Play On

Primary & Secondary

  • Structured as a normal Be Fit. Be Well visit but with a focus on girls and young people overcoming barriers to playing sport.
  • Teachers get access to a FREE online resource that equips young female athletes with knowledge and skills they need to continue enjoying sport.

VIS Tours

Primary & Secondary

  • Visit our high-performance and certified Olympic and Paralympic training facility
  • Tours are hosted by a VIS athlete and include learning about the Institute, individual athletes, experiencing the training load of athletes and a tour of the gym and sport science testing labs.
