Nicky Frey appointed Athletics Performance Advisor

We are pleased to announce that Nicky Frey has been appointed as the new Athletics Australia (AA)/Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) Performance Advisor.

Frey returns to work with Athletics after a 3.5-year stint as VIS/Shooting Australia Shooting Performance Support Manager.

The role as VIS/AA Performance Advisor is integral in driving the performance outcome for athletics coaches and athletes, leveraging the incredible expertise and resources of the VIS, and at AA and Athletics Victoria (AV).

A key strength for Frey is her ability to form strong connections with people from diverse backgrounds from across the high-performance sporting sector.

VIS Performance Manager (Podium), Bill Tait is excited and proud to have landed her.

“Nicky brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, capability and credibility with her into this role,” Tait said.

“She has been an athlete, a coach, an APA, and more recently a National Performance Support Manager – what a perfect blend of skills to take up this role!”

AA’s General Manager – High Performance, Andrew Faichney is also delighted for Frey’s return to Athletics.

“We’re thrilled that Nicky has returned to our sport in this role at the VIS. Having previously worked for Athletics Australia in a similar role, we know she has an aptitude for leading conversation between athletes, coaches and support staff.”

“With her extensive background in Athletics, we look forward to her making a big difference to our Victorian-based athletes and our overall high performance program.”

Frey is thrilled to be headed back to the sport she has been a part of for most of her life.

“I’m very excited to return to my ‘home’ of athletics and looking forward to working with the athletes and staff involved in the AA/VIS Athletics program,” Frey said.

“I have had a very good experience working with Shooting Australia and I would like to acknowledge and thank them for my time there.”

In her role with VIS and Shooting Australia (SA) Frey has been instrumental in continuing to build the performance culture within the program, and the broader SA Team.

Frey has previously worked at AA as the Athlete Performance Advisor alongside their Performance Director and National Coach.

Frey will commence her new role as Athletics Performance Advisor on 9 of December 2021.
