Phillips brothers wow at Kiel Week

VIS athletes Sam and Will Phillips have made a statement by leading the world class 49er fleet at Kiel Regatta in Germany, one of the largest sailing events in the world.

The brothers won the first two heats of the qualifying to be leading the 82 boat fleet of the Olympic class’s competition.

“Twice the Aussie brother pounced on the race leaders, first on young up and coming Kiwis and then the top Spanish team”.

After a strong start the pair have taken away some important lessons, as they finished in 7^th position overall. Sam mentioned “We had our moments in the race but never fully recovered. On a positive note there are a lot of lessons for us to take away from this week”.
