Reynolds shakes off rocky start to claim bronze

VIS’ Amanda Reynolds won bronze in the Women’s Para-Canoe KL3 200 at the first ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup in Poznan, Poland.

Reynolds found herself in the unusual position of having to qualify for her KL3 final through the semi-final, but she is still a force to be reckoned with by surging home to win bronze.

“After yesterday’s effort, I really thought I’d totally stuffed everything up. I’ve never done a semi in my life, and I don’t plan on doing another one," she said.

“But once I got back in the right headspace again, I’m just so stoked to get a place this time. It gives me more of an opportunity to go home and go ‘right, this is what we’ve got to do’.

“It’s hard with my wrist, we need to be careful and technical with what we do. It’s always painful, but I think I’ve been through worse.”

The second series of the World Cup is set to be held in Duisburg, Germany next weekend.
