Four selected in Australian Pan Pacs team

35 para swimmers including VIS athletes Madeleine Scott and Ashleigh McConnell will complement the 33-strong Australian Dolphins team, which includes VIS athletesMack Horton and Jessica Hansen set to contest at next month’s Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Cairns and Tokyo.

Both championships will be held from August 9-14, with the Pan Pacific’s located in Tokyo and the Para Championship in Cairns.

The team was named after four-days of impressive swimming at the Hancock Prospecting Pan Pacific Championship Trials in South Australia.

After medalling at the Commonwealth Games, both Scott and McConnell continued their winning form at the qualifying meet cementing their spots on the Australian team.

Meanwhile, whilst Mack Horton wasn’t quite at his best during trials, his Commonwealth Games times were enough to get him over the line and onto the Dolphins team.

However, Jessica Hansen locked in her spot in impressive style, swimming a huge PB of 1:06.74 in the Women’s 100m Breaststroke which won her a gold medal and automatically qualified her onto the team.
