Nutrition Tip | Are you a salty sweater?

Practical tips for salty sweaters to assist re-hydration

Are you a salty sweater and find it difficult to re-hydrate? Does your skin appear white and dusty after training? Is your urine dark in colour?

Individual physiology dictates how much sodium and electrolytes are lost when our body produces energy and through its cooling mechanisms.

If you’re concerned about your hydration, consider getting a hydration & sweat test done, with your Sports Dietitian.

In the interim, here are some practical tips for the salty sweaters to assist re-hydration:

  • Add electrolytes to your water!
  • Make fruity smoothies.
  • Snack on pretzels, flavoured rice cakes, vegemite on toast & salty popcorn.
  • Sprinkle some extra salt into your cooking.
  • Ensure you have a topped up drink bottle.
