The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) officially launched Skateboard 2020 last week in Melbourne.
As the International Olympic Committee added skateboarding to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in an attempt to boost the appeal among the younger generation of sporting fans, the ASC have followed suit by forming its first national skateboarding team.
Alongside Shanae Collins and Bradley Saunders, 16-year-old Hayley Wilson, has begun her Victorian Institute of Sport scholarship in recent weeks and is excited at the prospect of representing her country in 2020 with the support around her.
"If I get injured, I can recover there. I've got physios, I've got doctors, I've got all the facilities I need," Hayley said.
"But now I'm just going to work as hard as I can to get a spot on that team."
