Strong start for Aussies in Malaysia

The Australian U21 Men’s side have kicked off their Sultan of Johor Cup campaign with a bang, defeating the United States of America 19-0, in Malaysia on Sunday.

Assistant coached by VIS Head Men’s Hockey Coach, Jay Stacy, the Australians tore up the pitch leaving little opportunity for the Americans to make an impact.

VIS scholarship holder, Nathan Ephraums, was named Man of the Match with a total of five goals. While fellow VIS scholarship holders, Damon Steffens and Andrew Scanlon scored two goals apiece and VIS athlete, Jonothon Bretherton, also finding the back of the net.

Their defeat of the USA is the highest score ever recorded in Sultan of Johor Cup history.
