Lester and Krizanic named Bowlers of the Year

Two VIS athletes have been honoured in the Bowls Australia 2017 Hall of Fame and Awards Night last Thursday night, for their outstanding results over the last twelve months.

VIS scholarship holder, Barrie Lester was named Male Bowler of the Year cementing his place as Australia’s number 1 ranked Male Bowler.

Lester had a breakthrough season, as he claimed not only the elusive Victorian double (Victorian State Singles Champion & Victorian Champion of Champions) but also his maiden Australian Open crown.

VIS scholarship holder, Carla Krizanic was awarded the Female Bowler of the Year title, following a season which saw her claim the 2016 Australian Champion of Champions title.

Krizanic found success at a national and international level throughout the past season. Most notably, Krizanic, alongside teammates Natasha Scott and Rebecca Van Ash, became dual World Champions in late 2016 at the World Bowls Championships in Christchurch.
