Victorian Institute of Sport Statement regarding Marriage Equality

The Board members of the Victorian Institute of Sport discussed the postal vote afforded to all Australians on the issue of marriage equality at its Board Meeting last week, and unanimously agreed their support for marriage equality.

In determining their position they did so very mindful of our motto of “success in sport and life”.

The VIS confirms its commitment to athlete wellbeing and thus recognises the right of all our staff and athletes to work and play sport without experiencing prejudice and discrimination.

We also recognise it is the right of every individual to consider this matter on a personal basis and so it is very important that we all exercise our democratic right without prejudice or discrimination, and complete the survey.

The VIS is proud to join with the many other sporting organisations in stating that we stand for equality, diversity and inclusion and this includes the right to marry the partner of choice.
