Nothing able to stop Tweddell

Oli Tweddell has finished 15th in the 2017 Opel Finn Gold Cup at Spartacus Sailing Club in Balatonföldvár, Hungary.

One of only two Australians to finish inside the top 20, Tweddell put forward a valiant effort to finish 15th, despite having multiple fractures in one hand.

Prior to competition, Tweddell was considering withdrawing from the World Championship event, pending professional advice.

“If I’m told it’s not going to kill me, not going to cause me any permanent damage, I’ll give it a crack,” Tweddell said.

“I’m pretty resilient. I’ve had a lot of hurdles thrown at me in the past and I’ve never let them knock me down,” he said.

Swedish Max Salminen won the event, with Tweddell’s fellow Australian Sailing teammate Jake Lilly finishing in 13th.
