Alcott takes aim at US Open

VIS scholarship holder, Dylan Alcott and teammate Bryan Barten, have finished runners-up in Men’s Quad Doubles title at the US Open.

The Australian pair went down in straight sets 7-5 6-2 to three-time Australian Open champions Andy Lapthorne (UK) and David Wagner (USA).

Over in the Men’s singles competition, Alcott found himself caught in a three-way tie for a finals berth with Lapthorne and Wagner, after all three competitors had won two of their three matches. In the end, the number of sets lost by each decided who would progress through to the final match, with Lapthorne and Wagner both progressing through having lost two sets each, compared to Alcott’s three.

The competition marks the return of Wheelchair Tennis at the US Open for the first time since 2015.
