VIS shot putter, Damien Birkinhead, etched his name into the Australian record books, throwing a whopping 21.35m to place second in Zagreb, Croatia earlier last week.
Competing at the Memorijal Borisa Hanzekovica, Birkinhead broke the record held previously by his coach, Scott Martin, improving on his personal best of 21.21m, thrown by Birkinhead to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Earlier this year, Birkinhead represented Australia at the IAAF World Championships in London, where he threw 19.90m in the qualifying round, before failing to progress to the finals.
