Collyer puts on a show for US Am

Blake Collyer has bowed out of the US Amateur in the round of 32, after putting on a spectacular show in the qualifying rounds to make the cut.

In the leading US tournament for amateur golfers, the VIS scholarship holder, only one of three Australians to make the top 32, missed out on progressing to the next stage by 1 hole, losing out to American Collin Morikawa.

Earlier in the tournament, Collyer pulled out some heroic play to save his US Amateur campaign, after finding himself one stroke short of making the cut into the round of 32 at the 15th hole.

Unwilling to give up, Collyer put down an impressive eagle-birdie on the 17th and 18th to score himself a spot in the top 32.

Post-qualifying, Collyer said that his heart definitely skipped a beat in those final rounds.

“I’m going to have to wake up in the morning and pinch myself just to make sure this actually happened,” Collyer said.

“I’m still shaking now,” he said
