The Australian U23 Men’s Four team has taken home gold at the World Championships in Bulgaria over the weekend, setting a new World Championship best time in the process.
The team, which includes VIS scholarship holder Liam Donald, hit the lead at the 500m metre mark, before pushing ahead to take a three second victory over the reigning world champions Austria, and Great Britain.
Crew member Robert Black said that their World Championship victory was the reward for all of their hard work over the past three months.
“We had a perfect race, it went completely to plan. We had rehearsed our plan throughout our campaign and I am proud of all the hard work,” he said.
