VIS scholarship holder, Daniel Cave, has won silver in the mixed 4x100m medley relay at the FINA World Championships in Budapest.

Racing alongside Mitchell Larkin, Emma McKeon and Bronte Campbell, Cave helped to guide the quartet to silver 2.06 seconds behind the world record breaking US team. VIS athlete Jess Hansen, swam the heat of this event playing a key role in getting the Australian team into the finals.

Mack Horton has capped off his campaign at the FINA World Championships with a bronze medal in the 1500m freestyle, earlier today.

Finishing just under 12 seconds behind defending world champion Italian Gregorio Paltrinieri and Ukraine’s Mykhailo Romanchuk, Horton’s podium finish sees Australia return to the 1500m freestyle podium for the first time since Grant Hackett in 2008.

Earlier in the competition, Horton finished second in the 400m freestyle.

VIS scholarship holder, Kotuku Ngawati, won’t be leaving the World Championships empty handed, working alongside Madison Wilson, Emma McKeown and Ariarne Titmus to secure a bronze medal in the 4x200m freestyle relay.

Swimming third for the Australians, Ngawati gave her 200m leg her all, before setting up 16 year old teammate, Ariarne Titmus, to take the win.

The team touched 0.07 seconds ahead of the Russians to secure their place on the podium.
