Tapper taps into top three

VIS athlete Melissa Tapper finished 3rd over the weekend in the 2017 National Senior Top Ten Women’s competition, beating out fellow Victorian Michelle Beaumont to take home the bronze medal.

The dual Olympian/Paralympian finished 3rd behind Victorian’s Jian Fang Lay and Miao Miao who finished 1st and 2nd, respectively.

Tapper lost to Fay 12-10, 11-2, 11-8, 11-5, narrowly missing out on a spot in the gold medal match. Tapper defeated Michelle Beaumont 6-11, 11-4, 11-3, 11-8, 11-3 to finish with the bronze medal.

In 2016, Tapper became the first Australian athlete to compete at both the Paralympics and Olympics when she qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics, representing Australia in table tennis.
