Hannah leads the way

VIS athlete, Hannah MacDougall, has won the leader's jersey following a stellar start to the Paracycling World Cup series over the weekend.

Despite crashing on a roundabout and finishing 5th in her category in the individual time trial event, MacDougall made an impressive comeback to claim gold in the Women’s C4 road race.

Fellow VIS athletes Carol Cooke and Stuart Tripp also made great starts to the series. Women’s T2 category cyclist, Cooke, was rewarded for her efforts with two podium finishes, taking out 2nd in the individual time trial and 3rd in the road race. Tripp also managed to finish on the podium with a 3rd place finish in the Men’s H5 category time trial, before taking out 4th in the road race on the final day of racing.

The event was the first round of the Para-cycling Road World Cup, taking place in Monagio, Italy with the Australian team finishing with three gold medals, one silver and four bronze.

The team will now head to Oostende, Belgium for the second round of the series.
