Alcott wins Japan Open

VIS wheelchair tennis athlete, Dylan Alcott, recovered from a second set wobble to defeat David Wagner and win the quad singles title at the Japan Open in Iizuka.

It came in a pulsating dual between the top two seeds in an event doubling as a leg on the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour at the Chikuho Heights Tennis Courts.

Alcott won the first set 6-4 before being pegged back in the second 3-6 by his American opponent.

But the Australian dug deep to take the decider 6-3 and claim a third successive Japan Open crown.

Alcott also got the better of Wagner in the quads doubles final.

He teamed-up with fellow VIS scholarship holder Heath Davidson to beat Wagner and South African partner Lucas Sithole 7-6(3), 6-3.
