VIS athlete Lucas Hamilton has secured the first podium finish of the year for the Australian Under 23 National Team placing second at the Trofeo Edil C in Italy over the weekend.
In a sprint finish, Hamilton was edged out of first place by Italian Marco Negrente. Earlier in the race Hamilton broke away from the chase group to catch the leader Negrente in the final 2km before the sprint to the finish.
The gruelling 194km race finished with four laps for a 15.2km circuit that included the Segalara climb, the same climb in the Coppa Collecchio where Hamilton finished in the top ten last year.
