Gregson the Great

In Birmingham at the Muller Indoor Grand Prix Ryan Gregson demolished his own Australian Indoor 1500m record, lowering it to 3:36.50. Not to be outdone, Zoe Buckman re-wrote history for the first time since 1988 in the 1000m crossing the line in 2:39.47. In the 3000m, Genevieve LaCaze notched up a 7 second personal best of 8:45.81.

Across the ditch in Christchurch, Luke Mathews won the ‘Fast K’ one-kilometre road race in 2:19.

In Adelaide, Regan Lamble has booked her ticket to London for the World Championships after winning gold at the Oceania & Australian 20km Race Walking Championships. Lamble stopped the clock at 1:29:58, ahead of Birgita Virbalyte-Dimse (LTU, 1:30:55) and Beki Smith (ACT, 1:31:23).

Canberra was host to an influx of athletes from all over the country who were seeking fast times at the Australian Institute of Sport. Peter Bol was edged out by Kiwi Brad Mathas by 0.01 in the 800m to cross the line in 1:46.98. Isis Holt won her respective 100m and 200m races whilst Sam McIntosh was third in the wheelchair 100m.
