Shooters start year with a bang

VIS shooters have started the year off with a bang at the 2017 National ISSF Championships at the WA Gun Club in Perth.

Rio 2016 Olympian Laetisha Scanlan was crowned the women’s Trap National champion for the third year in a row and also the overall high gun winner. Fellow VIS athletes Emma Cox and Penny Smith finished second and third respectively in the Trap event.

In the Women's Trap Commonwealth Championship, Penny Smith finished first ahead of Olympic gold medallist Catherine Skinner in second, and Emma Cox in third.

Young-gun Aislin Jones finished first in the women's Skeet Commonwealth Championship, hitting 70/75 targets.

Mitch Iles finished second in the National Men’s Trap Championship. He also broke the National Overall high gun record with 123/125 and 122/125 for a total score of 245/250 (a combination of scores from the Commonwealth championships and the National championships).
