Aussies win the double at Trans-Tasman Trophy

Australia have won the inaugural Trans-Tasman Trophy in New Zealand overnight, despite the Black Sticks defeating both the Kookaburras (2 – 1) and the Hockeyroos (3 -2) on the final day of competition.

The overall series for both the men and women was locked up at three wins apiece, but it was Australia who took out both trophies on goal difference.

Congratulations to current VIS athletes and members of the Hockeyroos, Laura Barden and Georgia Nanscawen, along with Tim Cross and Casey Hammond representing the Kookaburras. Also part of the successful Kookaburras squad were former VIS scholarship holders Aaron Kleinschmidt and Josh Pollard who made their debuts in the green and gold.

Both squads will now head to Melbourne to take part in the International Festival of Hockey beginning this Wednesday.
