Australia’s Genevieve LaCaze and compatriot Madeline Hills have run their hearts out to record top-10 finishes and both set new personal bests in the women’s 3000m steeplechase final.
In-form LaCaze finished 9th in a personal best time of 9:21.21, which astronomically improves on her 22nd at London 2012.
LaCaze was emotionally ecstatic with her performance, "Honestly I don't have words! I am so happy. To see Mads go past me and have two Aussies here is just amazing!".
Her eyes now move to the 5000m heats on Tuesday 17 August at 10:30pm.
