Pott Luck!

Alec Potts formed part of the history-making archery team that won Australia’s first medal at the 2016 Rio Games, shooting with consistent accuracy to help claim bronze overnight.

It marked the nation’s first ever Olympic medal in the team event.

Potts, along with teammates Taylor Worth and Ryan Tyack, shook off a loss to eventual champions Korea to overcome China 6-2 in the bronze medal play-off.

The trio had earlier given themselves a superb start, placing fourth in the ranking round to move directly through to the quarterfinals, where they narrowly avoided a defeat against France.

"It hasn’t really sunk in yet but it feels awesome and I can only imagine it will get better from here," 20-year-old Potts said.

The Victorian will now focus on the singles event, which begins on Monday from 10pm AEST.
