Densham 12th in Olympic swansong

Triple triathlon Olympian Erin Densham can walk tall after conquering a torture test in her final Olympic race around Fort Copacabana in Rio.

Densham spoke glowingly of her final Olympic race and celebrated career as she made her way through the competition zone following a brutal day in the office.

She was “limping tall” after struggling through the final 2.5km on the run, finishing with a combination of “aching hamstrings, blisters, soreness” and as the 31-year-old said with a shy laugh “old age.”

The London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist, did Australia proud finishing 12th in her Olympic swansong.

Densham admitted before the race she’d had a tough four years since London said: “I’m so happy with that. The last four years haven’t been great.

“Leading in I did everything I could, absolutely everything I could and I laid it all out there today and I’m so happy with how it went.

“To finish my third Olympics the way I did I couldn’t be prouder.”
