Stingers claim silver

The Australian Stingers Water Polo team, featuring VIS athlete Rowie Webster, claimed silver at the Kunshan Cup, after narrowly missing out on victory against Team USA in the final.

The Stingers, who were undefeated in the lead up to the final, went down 5-7 against USA, despite having triumphed 5-4 against the eventual champions earlier in the week.

The narrow loss only emphasised the rivalry between the Australian and USA teams in the lead-up to Rio.

Australia is scheduled to name its 13-person team for the Olympic Games after the World League Super Final, which begins in Shanghai tomorrow and runs until 11 June.
