Scanlan fires in final World Cup

VIS trap shooter Laetisha Scanlan has continued her strong build up to her Olympic debut after she finished fourth at the final World Cup event before the Rio Games in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Scanlan and fellow Rio-bound VIS athlete Catherine Skinner both shot 70 out of 75 targets in the qualification round to set up a four way shoot-off for the final two positions in the six strong semi-final.

Scanlan shot four straight targets to progress in the competition, while Skinner bowed out after three attempts.

The VIS scholarship holder then shot 12 out of 15 targets to set up a bronze medal match with Italy’s Alessia Iezzi. Both shooters then shot 13 out of 14 before Scanlan missed her final shot to miss out on the podium.
