VIS athlete Lisa Weightman has become the third Australian woman to better the Olympic marathon qualifying standard after finishing a fighting second in the Houston marathon.
The Australian's time of two hours 27 minutes and 35 seconds saw her join countrywomen Jess Trengove and Milly Jane Clark in bettering the qualifying mark for Rio.
It was Weightman's first marathon since giving birth to son Pete 13 months ago.
In other track and field news, Athletics Australia has confirmed the first athletes selected by the Australian Olympic Committee to compete for Australia in the Australian Olympic Team for Rio 2016.
VIS athlete Chris Erickson gained automatic nomination after winning the Australian 50km Race Walking Championships with a qualifying time in December.
