Ma Lin has been one of the world’s most dominant Para-table tennis players for the past decade and a half. Thankfully, after playing his career so far for his native China, Ma will represent Australia for the first time at the Paralympics in Tokyo.
Ma has only his left arm after his right arm was amputated when he was five following a terrible accident at a zoo involving a bear. He started playing table tennis competitively about 10 years later and within three years of that, had become the gold medallist in singles and teams at the World Para Championships. Success continued at the 2008 Games in Beijing and far beyond.
Ma is now a four-time gold medallist in three Paralympic Games, has won five world titles and 11 Asian titles. He moved to Melbourne after the Rio Games, registered with Table Tennis Australia and is a super exciting addition to our Team for Tokyo.
