How does the VIS support your career in high performance sport?
Honestly, one of the biggest differences the VIS support team has made is giving me people I can rely on. They actually listen, they back me, and they’re consistent. In a high-performance environment where things can change quickly, having a team that knows me as an athlete and a person has made a massive impact.
Most memorable sporting moment?
My most memorable sporting moment was winning my first World Championship in the sprint.
Standing on that start line knowing everything I’d poured into the sport — the setbacks, the rehab, the training, the fight and then crossing the line as a world champion is something I’ll never forget. It was the moment everything came together and I proved to myself that I could be the best in the world.
Proudest personal achievement outside of sport?
My son Jaxx
What do you enjoy most about your sport?
What I enjoy most about my sport is having clear goals to chase, working hard towards them, and genuinely loving the simple act of riding my bike. The combination of purpose, effort, and pure enjoyment is what keeps me coming back every day.
Advice to your younger self?
I’d say: lean into the hard stuff it’s going to build you into someone tougher, braver, and more capable than you can imagine.
Go-to meal before competing?
Before competition I keep the food simple - usually rice or pasta with a lean protein and always a good coffee. That’s the non-negotiable part.
If you could have dinner with any three people, who would they be?
• Cleopatra — unstoppable.
• Catherine the Great — expanded an empire and didn’t apologise for anything.
• Joan of Arc — fought armies as a teenager, zero fear.
Why it’s cool:
Three women from totally different eras who all held immense power their way.
What do you enjoy doing outside of sport?
Outside of sport, I love getting outdoors exploring new places, and spending time with my family. I’m happiest when I’m out on an adventure, riding with Jaxx, or finding good coffee somewhere along the way.
