Victorian Institute of Sport shooters were well on target at Gold Coast 2018, collecting five medals, three finalists, a Commonwealth Games title, and a new Games record.
Laetisha Scanlan was the headline act. On her 28th Birthday, Scanlan hit 38 of her 50 targets to defend the Commonwealth title she won in Glasgow, and set a new Games record.
The gold medal came down to the very last target, and with the help of the home crowd, Scanlan took a deep breath and nailed it.
Elena Galibovitch won silver in the 25m pistol and bronze in the 10m air pistol, whilst Emma Cox claimed silver in a heartbreaking shoot off in the womens double trap final.
The nail-biting didnt finish there, as Sergei Evglevski went on to win silver in the final of the mens 25m rapid fire pistol, two shy of champion Anish Bhanwala from India, who set a new Games record score of 30.
