Almost a decade after achieving a Silver medal status at the 2012 London Paralympics, the final Australian Gliders squad headed for Tokyo has been announced by Paralympics Australia.
After missing out on qualifying for the 2016 Rio Games, the Gliders are set to pick up where they left off, after medalling at four consecutive Paralympics from 2000-2012.
The Gliders will flood their squad with nine Paralympic debutants as Victorians Isabel Martin and Bree Mellberg join newcomers Taishar Ovens, Ella Sabljak, Shelley Cornau, Natalie Alexander, Mary Friday, Jessica Cronje and Georgia Munro-Cook to don the green and gold for the first time.
In 2020 Martin was named Wheelchair Athlete of the Year by Basketball Victoria in Australia.
