How does the VIS support your career in high performance sport?
Yikes, just one way the VIS support team has made a difference, I think I could name hundreds...
An integral part of my life, helping shape who I am as an athlete, but more importantly, who I am as a human. A human who is looking to build a more inclusive world, and create a legacy in Paralympic sport.
Most memorable sporting moment?
My first ever home world championships in Wollongong in 2025, and being able to share the experience and podium with family, friends, VIS staff, and the Aussie crowd.
Proudest personal achievement outside of sport?
Completing a PhD - it was a big four years!
What do you enjoy most about your sport?
Connecting with nature; either in the open water, on the bike in the mountains, or racing in different parts of the world.
Advice to your younger self?
Be loud and proud about going to bed at 8:30pm.
Go-to meal before competing?
We generally race in the morning - so definitely a double, or triple espresso, with a protein shake and some easy-on-the-gut carbs e.g., white rice. Not exciting, but helpful for racing and the pre-race nerves (= many bathroom stops...!).
If you could have dinner with any three people, who would they be?
Robin Williams, George Winston, Brene Brown.
What do you enjoy doing outside of sport?
Reading, yoga, nature, mindfulness, breathwork, musicals, theatre, having adventures or a delicious meal with family and friends.
