Our Sports

The VIS works in close partnership with national and state sporting organisations to deliver world-class performance and development programs and support categorised athletes. Support is provided through Tier 1 Sport Programs, the Individual Athlete Scholarship Program and the Future Talent Program.

These programs are designed to provide the performance support and environment athletes need to thrive on the international stage.

Following an athlete-focused and coach-led approach, each program is aligned to sport-specific targets – ranging from holistic athlete development and progression through the performance pathway, to podium success at benchmark events such as the Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games.

Future Talent Program

Future Talent scholarships accelerate the development of athletes under 23 years of age, who have demonstrated the greatest potential for success. Backed by The Carbine Club, the program connects emerging talent with elite VIS services to help fast-track their journey to the highest level of sport.

Some of Australia’s greatest athletes started with a Future Talent scholarship, such as international soccer player Steph Catley, Australia’s most decorated snowboarder Scotty James and three-time Olympic diver, Anabelle Smith.
