Karla Bulte
Performance Scientist - Physiology
Karla Bulte is a Performance Scientist specialising in physiology, with six years’ experience supporting athletes across Olympic, Paralympic, professional, and amateur sport. She is currently embedded within the VIS swimming program while contributing to broader sport science projects.
Previously, she spent four years as Sport Science Coordinator for Carlton Football Club’s AFLW team and has taught in Deakin University’s Exercise and Sport Science program.
Karla holds a Bachelor and Honours degree in Exercise and Sport Science and is completing a PhD on physiological profiling in elite swimmers. She also has a strong interest in evidence‑based individualised preparation and recovery strategies.
Dr Susan White AM
Chief Medical Officer / Director Performance Health Services
Dr Susan White AM is a Specialist Sport and Exercise Physician with more than 30 years’ experience working with elite athletes including attending multiple Paralympic, Olympic, Youth Olympic, Commonwealth Games and World Championships in roles ranging from Team Physician to Medical Director.
She is Chair of the Australian Sports Drug Medical Advisory Committee.
Dr Ebonie Rio
Sport & Exercise Physiotherapist
Ebonie is an experienced Sport and Exercise Medicine Physiotherapist who is passionate about clinical research and has completed her PhD in tendon pain. Ebonie’s experience includes Commonwealth Games, Winter Olympics, Youth Olympics, Paralympics and supporting the Australian Team at the Headquarters at the 2024 Olympics Paris.
Grace Claringbold
Performance Lifestyle Adviser
Grace is a Performance Lifestyle Adviser and organisational psychologist. She is experienced in wellbeing, leadership development, career development, and learning. Grace has designed and delivered interventions across the individual, team and system level. At the Victorian Institute of Sport, Grace supports the wellbeing of developing, Olympic and Paralympic athletes across a range of sports. She has completed a Masters in Organisational Psychology and is accredited in a number of psychometric assessments.
William Pyle
Performance Lifestyle Adviser
Will is a qualified counsellor who has played or been involved in sport his entire life. He began his professional career at the AFL in the Mental Health and Wellbeing team and remains involved as a Wellbeing Coordinator at the Sandringham Dragons.
As well as a counselling background, Will has experience in facilitation of wellbeing and mental health education.
At the Victorian Institute of Sport, he uses a person-centred approach when working with developing, Olympic, and Paralympic athletes across five sports. Guided by his passion for both people and sport, Will is dedicated to empowering athletes to succeed in sport and in life.
Aimie Rocci
Performance Lifestyle Adviser
Aimie is a Performance Lifestyle Adviser and a recently retired Professional Basketball Player. She is an experienced athlete with 14 professional seasons, including two championships and two seasons as team captain.
Complemented by over 8 years coaching young athletes within specialised sport programs, dual Bachelor degrees in Education (honours) & Science, and a Certificate IV in Elite Athlete Wellbeing Management, she draws on her experience as an elite athlete, teacher, wellbeing advisor and leader to make a genuine impact.
Leesa Gallard
Performance Lifestyle Manager
With 20 years’ experience in high performance sport across coaching and performance lifestyle, Leesa currently leads the VIS Performance Lifestyle Team developing and implementing wellbeing initiatives across the VIS, as well as providing Performance Lifestyle support to athletes.
With a background in education, Leesa has held teaching and educational leadership roles and is a qualified career practitioner and accredited Morrisby user. She has an elite coaching qualification in netball and has coached Victorian teams to 6 National Championship titles and led the VIS Netball development program.
Leesa also holds leadership roles within the Australian sporting system, on wellbeing advisory groups and HP2032+ working groups.
Kim Gray
Senior Performance Lifestyle Adviser
Kim Gray is a wellbeing and career development professional with over 20 years of experience in High Performance sports.
With a background in professional team and player management, she has held athlete wellbeing roles at the Combat Institute of Australia, Gymnastics Australia, and the Melbourne Rebels rugby team.
Kim is a registered Career Development practitioner, has Counselling qualifications, and holds professional certifications as a Langley Strengths Profile practitioner and certified Morrisby User.
Sam Waters
Performance Lifestyle Adviser
Sam is a Performance Lifestyle Adviser at the Victorian Institute of Sport, supporting athletes across a range of ages, sports, and pathways to achieve success in both sport and life.
In addition to his role at VIS, Sam is the National Wellbeing and Engagement Manager for Skate Australia. Before moving into high performance sport, he spent over a decade in the education sector in a range of teaching and leadership roles.
Sam holds a Bachelor of Sport Science, a Master of Education, and qualifications in Positive Psychology and Career Development. His work is grounded in a holistic, athlete-centred approach to wellbeing and performance.
Shenae Keleher
Performance Lifestyle Adviser
Shenae Keleher is an athlete wellbeing professional passionate about helping athletes succeed on and off the field.
With degrees in Exercise Sport Science and Business (Sport Management) and a Certificate IV in Elite Athlete Wellbeing & Engagement, she has supported pre-categorised, para-athletes, and AFL Talent League players through high-performance pathways, team selection and draft preparation.
She thoroughly enjoys working across nine VIS sports, supporting Olympic & Paralympic categorised athletes, find the balance of sport and life.
