Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist


The Victorian Institute of Sport is the pre-eminent elite, high performance sport training facility in the State, and is an integral cog in the National Institute Network, servicing Australia’s high performing sports people. Through our lived motto of “Success in Sport and Life” we provide an environment in which talented athletes have the opportunity to excel in all aspects of their chosen sport.

We have a role available for an experienced, highly professional, titled Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist to join our performance services team on a 0.4 FTE part time employed basis. 

Reporting to the Lead Physiotherapist, the successful applicant will provide Sports Physiotherapy services to our track cycling and sailing programs at our world class VIS headquarters in Melbourne’s Albert Park precinct, as well as in their respective, technical daily training environments. They will work within an inter-disciplinary team of support staff, leveraging their expertise to prevent injury, maximise performance and effectively manage injury when necessary.

The role is envisaged to be carried out across four half days each week, but the exact nature of this may vary depending on program requirements and seasonal variations within the sports.

This week for the first time in almost a year I had a speaking gig, in person, face to face. In the last year I have done a number of gigs but because of Covid-19 they have all be virtual. That’s okay but it certainly isn’t the same as being face to face with your audience. To be able to gage their body language, their facial expressions, or how much you have them interested in your story is so much easier when you are in the same room and not looking at them on a screen.
