At just 20-years-old Josh scored in three games for the Victoria Vikings on their way to the 2017 AHL (Australia Hockey League) gold medal over the WA Thundersticks. His performance in this game confirmed he was certainly one to watch.
Simmonds made his senior international debut in 2018, playing a test match against Argentina held in Darwin. Later in the year, the defender was named to the 2019 Kookaburras squad and has continued to represent the team since.
In 2019, the 25-year-old won gold at the FIH Pro League Final in The Netherlands, following a 3-2 win over Belgium.
Josh will be making his Olympic debut in Tokyo 2021, competing in the men’s hockey event.
