VIS Physiotherapy Lead

The Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Physiotherapy Lead to join our world class sports Institute, headquartered in Albert Park, Melbourne.
This is a new position that will suit a qualified Sports Physiotherapist who has been working in a high performance environment for a number of years and who will bring a passion for sporting achievement and a strong commitment to positively impacting high performance culture.
The VIS Physiotherapy Lead will primarily be responsible for establishing the direction of the VIS’ Physiotherapy and Soft Tissue Therapy services. The role will lead a team of Physiotherapy and Soft Tissue Therapy contractors as well as provide Physiotherapy to athletes where required to ensure that maximum impact is achieved. Building a broader network of practitioners and playing an active role in their development as professionals will also be a key function of the role.
The successful applicant will play a key role in enhancing the integrated approach of all performance support teams along with garnering the necessary intelligence for positive athlete and sport program outcomes.
Key Accountabilities Include:
- Coordination of the VIS Physiotherapy team and Soft Tissue Therapy services.
- Delivery of Physiotherapy at key times to have maximum performance impact.
- In collaboration with the Head Coaches, Program Managers and other service providers, develop a strong culture of integration and information sharing that will ultimately benefit athlete development/performance and staff engagement.
- Attend training sessions and competitions where appropriate to further support growth and strategic priorities.
- Liaison with the AIS and NSO Physiotherapy Leads to ensure that there is strategic alignment with the sports and National initiatives.
- Working closely with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure the necessary clean data is collected for each sport program to allow for appropriate analysis that positively impacts the management and development of athletes.
- Delivery of professional development sessions to program coaches/managers, sport science and strength & conditioning staff.
- Collaboration with members of the internal Performance Pathway, Sports Science and Physical Preparation teams as well as SIS/SAS Performance staff as required.
You Will Bring
- A strong understanding of high performance sport and 7+ years of experience working in a high performance environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of injury epidemiology and management in elite sport.
- A strong grasp of injury prevention strategies, including the use of load monitoring tools.
- Demonstrated ability to provide appropriate physiotherapy, including individualised case management, manual therapy and exercise programs for individual athletes and groups of athletes.
- Experience in managing, leading and supporting personal/professional development of staff.
- Proven experience working within an integrated/multi-disciplinary program environment.
- Experience in strategic planning, preparing reports and coordinating operational budgets.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the use of Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word and other athlete management suites.
Qualifications & Essential Requirements
A tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy is essential. You will be required to be a Titled APA Sports or Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and registered physiotherapist with AHPRA. You will also require a Current First-Aid certificate, Current Driver’s License, Victorian Working with Children Check and Current Safeguarding Children Certification.
Remuneration will be commensurate with your skills and experience. To apply for this position you must be legally entitled to work in Australia.
