Victorian Institute of Sport netballer, Rahni Samason was last week named Australian Netball League MVP, after a fantastic season with the Victorian Fury.
Samason is known for her goal scoring ability, scoring 441 goals for the season plus a further 83 during the weekend’s finals.
Fury coach, Leesa Gallard said that Samason achievement was a reward for her fantastic year.
“It’s been fabulous to see her progression and her development and how she really owns that goal circle,” Gallard said.
“I’m just really pleased for Rahni that the effort and the performances that she’s put out across each game have been noticed and rewarded with such a wonderful award.”
Samason a VIS scholarship holder as well as a Melbourne Vixens Training Partner, could hardly contain her excitement when announced the winner of the award.
“When I got told, I just burst into tears because it was just such a shock,” Samason said.
“It’s unbelievable. I’m just super, super excited and happy.”
“Last year was my first year with the Fury but I didn’t get to play much because of injury, but being able to come out and really shine this year is indescribable.”
The Victorian Fury finished the finals weekend in fourth place, after being defeated by the NSW Waratahs in the playoff for bronze two weeks ago.
