Hockey Women's Review: Commonwealth Games

Monday, 16 April 2018

Summary…

VIS’ Madi Ratcliffe, Rachael Lynch, Emily Hurtz and their Hockeyroos team marched through the qualifying games , and the semi-final without conceding a goal.

However in the gold medal game they met a Kiwi team that had definitely come to play and had their colours lowered 4-1.

Lynch played a phenomenal tournament as goal-keeper, recording five consecutive clean sheets as she put up a wall that the opposition struggled to break.

Hurtz, and Ratcliffe although unable to register a goal on the scorecard, were exceptional up forward, the pair fired 16 shots on goal throughout the tournament and applied immense pressure in the forward half.

Although disappointed, Hockeyroos Coach Paul Gaudoin wants the Hockeyroos to keep their heads up high.

“We want to make sure we use what happened today as an opportunity to learn & improve ahead of the World Cup in July & also Tokyo 2020." Gaudoin said.

The number…
