Gregson headed for World Champs

Ryan Gregson has secured his ticket to the World Championships in August after posting a qualifying time at the IAAF Diamond League in Doha.
Following Gregson’s victory at the Australian Athletics Championships in the 1500m, the performance in Doha of 3:34.56 ensures his selection for London 2017.
“I am happy to have run the standard. I didn’t feel great. The jet lag coming from California had more of an impact than I had expected,” Gregson said.“But I am sure the race will advance my next period of training and help me be more competitive in my next race at the Prefontaine Classic.”
Genevieve LaCaze has put her name in the hat for the IAAF World Championships, also recording a qualifying time in Doha.
Lining up in the women’s 3000m steeplechase, LaCaze clocked a seasons best time of 9:37.10. Unfortunately, LaCaze missed the Australian Championships through injury. This season’s opening run will put her in good stead for a berth at the World Championships in London.
"At halfway I thought I could run very fast, but I did get very tired through the last 800m which I should maybe have expected after missing time with injury in March," LaCaze said."At least now I am healthy, have the standard and can focus without distraction on my preparation for London."
The IAAF Diamond League now moves to Shanghai, China, with the VIS represented by Linden Hall and Morgan Mitchell.
