Victorian Institute of Sport

The VIS provides support to all Victorian based gymnasts who are recognised on GA’s Australia’s Winning Edge athlete categorisation list.

The VIS gymnastics program has been restructured during 2014/15 with Gymnastic Australia (GA) taking a greater lead in the development of elite gymnasts in Victoria and across the country. The Victorian Women’s High Performance Centre has been rebranded as the National Centre of Excellence - Melbourne, and is a partnership between GA, Gymnastics Victoria (GV) and the VIS, which aims to provide gymnasts with an optimal training environment that enables them to reach an internationally competitive level.

In 2014-15 athletes competed in National and International events including the Commonwealth Games and World Championships where a top eight finish secured qualification for the upcoming 2015 World Championships.
