Sporting Highlights:

In his Olympic debut in Rio, Mack Horton was crowned the gold medallist in the 400m freestyle.

Horton maintained his smooth, sleek stroke to register a deserved win in a time of 3:41.55, with China's Sun Yang second in 3:41.68 and Italian Gabriele Detti in third.

In the 1500m freestyle, Horton placed second in his heat before going on to finish fifth with a time of 14:49.54.

Horton then combined with Thomas Fraser-Holmes, David McKeon and Dan Smith to finish fifth in the 4x200m freestyle relay, with a gutsy effort in the final event. Horton split a sizzling 1:45.37 to anchor the team, touching an agonising 0.68 shy of the medal positions with a total time of 7:04.18.

At the 2017 World Championships, Horton won silver in the men’s 400m freestyle and bronze in the men’s 1500m freestyle.

Strong performances on the world stage were elevated at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, where Horton earned gold in the men’s 400m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle relay events, as well as silver in the 200m freestyle and bronze in the 1500m freestyle.

The 2019 World Championships saw Horton find gold in the 4x200m freestyle, while also earning silver in the 400m freestyle.

Now ahead of Tokyo 2020, Horton will be fixated on recording another memorable Olympic campaign.
